“How much does it cost to install a planning notice?” is a reasonable question, but there is no reliable single price for every Victorian property.

The scope of the job may involve a basic attendance at an accessible metropolitan site, or a more complex booking with printing, multiple frontages, restricted access and a later removal visit.

What changes the price?

Location and travel. A property close to an existing work route may have a different travel requirement from a regional site or a new subdivision that is difficult to locate.

Printing and materials. If the sign has already been provided, the installation scope is different from a job requiring print preparation, mounting material and protective finishing.

Number of signs and positions. A site with several instructed locations may take longer than a single straightforward frontage. Never add extra signs without confirming the authority's requirement.

Access conditions. Locked gates, difficult working areas or the need for on-site coordination can affect time and scheduling.

Urgency. A requested attendance within a narrow timeframe may change dispatch planning. A provider should confirm availability before promising a date.

Additional visits. Installation, condition checking, replacement and removal should be clearly identified as separate services or bundled items.

How to compare quotes fairly

Ask what the price includes. Does it cover travel, materials, photographs and a completion report? Is removal included? What happens if the site is inaccessible or the notice file changes after printing?

It is also useful to confirm whether council advertising charges, postage and newspaper placement costs are separate. These are different from the field-service provider's labour and materials.

Make the quote accurate from the start

Supply the authority's instructions, site address, approved sign document, required date, likely access restrictions and scope of requested services. A detailed brief is more useful than simply asking for the cheapest sign installation.

Request an itemised quote: SiteNotice Australia can assess the actual work required and provide service pricing without publishing misleading one-size-fits-all rates.
